Fashionista Gathering & Fun*raiser

Last weekend my Relay For Life Team (most of whom are also part of my Red Hat chapter) put on our 5th Annual Fashion Show Fun*raiser event.  It was a sell-out and a huge success in every sense of the word.

Guests included Red Hatters, local fashion lovers, a smattering of men who accompanied their ladies, and characters straight out of the Old West town of Tombstone!  Our theme was "Fashion Through the Years" including current styles as well as clothing from the 1800's.  Guest were invited to dress in period attire if they wanted.  There was a poodle skirt outfit, go-go boots & mini dress, the 40's look and I wore a flapper-style dress. (Yep, that's me in the photo below.)    It was without a doubt our most popular fashion show yet!

We were entertained by the Rickety Rockettes, a group of 50+ women who love to dance and perform for events all over town.  Some of them are also in my Red Hat chapter, so we were doubly blessed by their presence!  We were treated to such songs as Kansas City, and Bad, Bad Leroy Brown.  The crowd loved them, as always!

A light lunch was served by Pizzaria Mimosa, a new Italian Restaurant in the area.  Vendors lined the room selling clothing, purses, jewelry, candles and fragrances, hats and hair adornments, handmade quillos (quilt/pillow) and more.  Prizes and raffles finished off the day and all proceeds will go to our Relay For Life Team 2013!

Already, one of my Red Hatters has suggested a theme for next year!  Of course, we will discuss all suggestions, so stay tuned to see what excitement awaits you!

A little side note about me:  I know you have been wondering if I crawled in a hole, moved to Sardinia, or just forgot how to use my keyboard, but you'd be wrong.  I am still dealing with that awful shortness of breath issue.  It robs me of my energy and I must plan one or two things a day to accomplish and let the rest wait.  It is driving me crazy!  I'll post tomorrow about my next plan of action and explain a bit more.  Just know I think about you, troll your sites, and keep track of what you have been up to.  I appreciate each and every one of you who visits and takes a minute to comment and let me know you stopped by.

  1. Oh my gosh what fun this must have been! A local group has a FUN-raiser each year for a local homeless shelter (for women)...it is similar to yours, they crown a "Queen of Everything", which I was a couple years ago...this year they added a "Princess of Quite a Lot"...smile.. It's a real hoot and like yours open to everyone..not just Red Hatters...

I hope they can do something for your breathing issue..I will hold you in prayer..

    Blessings,
    Gert

    1. Sandy - I was pretty worn out after setting up Friday evening and being on my feet all day Saturday, but I survived - probably on adrenaline alone! Haha! Now, on to the doctors and more testing and hoping for some answers!
