Enough...

And, let me say this about that...

Too many of us want more.  More money, more status, more clothes, more "things", more friends, more food, more, more, more!  Satisfaction eludes us.  We think that surely more will define us.

The Bible says that Jesus' Grace is enoughHe is all we need.  He will see that we have what we need - not what we want, but what we need.  He will provide.

I can live with that.  He is my "enough."  Yes, I have nice things.  Yes, I have more money than some.  Yes, I have more of this and that.  But, I can do without them, too.  They are not what tell you who I am - I hope!  They are what helps me to help others when they need it.  They are what makes me comfortable.  But, if they were taken away, I'd like to believe that I could still say "I have enough."

I am thankful that His Grace is Enough!

  1. The only way I feel secure is by realizing that I'll be fine without what I have. What is here today can be all gone tomorrow. It feels better if I accept it as all "part of the plan". ~ Maureen

  3. I'm not sure when the shift happened for me. A few years ago..when I stopped desiring more and more and know that enough is enough. I am so blessed to have what I have but could easily let some of it go now. Years ago I would have fought tooth and nail to keep everything and still want more. This is a great post today! xo Diana

    1. Diana - It has also been a few years for me, and I can't recall a specific time. I just know I am thankful for what has been given me and I am very content with where I am.

  4. This is so true - not what we want, but what we need. We forget that too many times, I'm afraid.

  6. Grace, thank you for this beautiful post. I too stopped wanting so much & often look at at all I have in appreciation. I have to remind myself that these THINGS are only loaned to me & that I cannot take them with me when I die. I am also glad I have to leave it ALL behind, because it would only weigh me down with cluttered..lololo. GOD has been good to me. I often wonder WHY HE has blessed Me so often. I am so very, very thankful! I am so happy that I found your blog

  7. This is such a beautiful and timely post. I think we all need to look at ourselves and take stock of what is most important to us. Every once in a while we need to check our priorities and make sure we are in our precious Lord's will.
I am so thankful just now. Our son was in a serious auto accident on Friday night. He was traveling on a county hwy, a woman, who was texting and driving, pulled out of a side road and hit him. His auto was totaled but praise our Lord he is alive. He is still aching, it's hard to walk and move about but he is alive and we are so thankful today.
Tonight, it is enough for me to still have my son. Thank you Jesus.

  10. Oh, yes, trying to balance between the want and the need and understanding at times the wanting is ok within limits. Moderation, life is all about moderation and I am not always the best at remembering that little tidbit.
