Lunch with my Red Hat Sisters is always a fun time. Today was no exception. Twelve of us met an a local restaurant for a leisurely lunch and plenty of chatting. We welcomed two new ladies to our chapter and talked about a big event coming up next month. There was a lot of laughter, smiles and hugs to share!
This is what Red Hatting is all about. The Red Hat Society was formed twelve years ago and has spread worldwide, with many thousands of ladies from all walks of life joining to have fun, to find moral support, to meet new friends, to play "dress up" and have "recess!" There are no rules in this disorganization except to wear the proper colors according to our age. Women over fifty are to wear purple clothing with a red hat. Those under fifty are "Ladies in Waiting" and must wear lavender with a pink hat. Our chapter, like most, is all about having fun - no matter what we are doing.
We plan outings (and "innings) such as going to concerts, dining out, potlucks, picnics, movie dates, craft shows, teas, and fashion shows. Anything will do if we can have fun while doing it! Each chapter is different. Some large, some smaller, but all are part of one huge Sisterhood that gives purpose and hope to a lot of women who might otherwise not get out of their house. We like to say we are off our rockers and having fun!
